Autumn cruise 2020. Words by Sarah Woolley. Click on a photo for a more detailed view!
"Karinda came up from her Twickenham mooring at Hammerton Ferry on Wednesday, 2nd September and moored at Wraysbury with LP.  Both boats headed up to Cookham on the Friday enjoying a lovely Malik’s takeaway on board that evening.  Saturday saw us head up to Henley meeting up with Hippocampus, La Chemme and St Joan and picnicked that evening.  Sunday we had pre-booked a lunch at one of our favourite watering holes, "The Bull" in Sonning, having moored for the night just upstream of Sonning Lock.
Monday, our final destination and the main reason for our trip, we motored on to Moulsford near Goring, to dine at the newly refurbished and renowned “Beetle & Wedge” where we were welcomed by the owner, Ben Smith, who also owns an historic gastro pub in Wraysbury, “The George".   The restaurant transformation was fabulous but had kept the unmistakable ambiance of its former self.  Ben is now in the throes of completing four delightful ensuite rooms in the building behind.  Needless to say the food was superb…. and with the boats moored directly outside, we didn’t have far to stumble!
On Tuesday, having said our goodbyes to La Chemme, Louis Phillipe and Karinda ambled back to Fawley Meadow for the night and polished off the leftovers on board.  In the morning the two vessels made a reasonably early start and made a beeline for home, eating lunch on the hoof.  Karinda once again mooring for the night at Wraysbury before heading down to Twickenham the following day.  Pleased to say we were pretty much blessed with glorious weather throughout and look forward to our next trip, wherever it may take us."
